& the walls came tumbling down

Something the Lords placed on my heart the past few days…
What I am choosing to worry about the most, is where I am trusting God the least.
I don’t know about you - but that 100% applies to me.
If you think about it...
Why do we fear? Why do we have doubts? Worries? Stress?
We worry to feel 'emotionally prepared' for what we feel could be a negative outcome, that has yet to happen.
Worried about that test? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worried about your relationship lasting? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worried about that doctor's appointment? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worried about starting a new chapter? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worried about your upcoming sports season? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worried about a hard conversation you need to have? Why? you want a good OUTCOME.
Worry causes our minds to focus on everything BUT a good OUTCOME.
Trying to take control of what we want our outcomes to be or look like doesn't change what they will actually be; however, it takes away the peace of what God designed them to be.
I can't sit here and write to you that every outcome in your life will be the exact way you picture it... but I can sit here and remind you of the truth that...
With God, no matter the OUTCOME, I can OVERCOME.
A verse you may be familiar with is Joshua 1:9 (this is my brother's favorite verse and definitely a constant in my life.)
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
In the battle of Jericho (in Joshua chapter 6), Joshua led his people in fearless reliance that the Lord would deliver them.
They didn't fight or panic.
Joshua listened to the voice of the Lord... and God did the work for them.
Joshua did not bring Jericho's walls down himself. Joshuas soldiers never swung a sword.
The shaking and tumbling of the thick, nearly indestructible walls of Jericho, not touched by Joshua or his men... came tumbling down by the power of God.
God did that for them.
God will do the same for YOU.
We all have a wall of Jericho in our life that we need to step back and let God tear down.
I know I do.
Your Jericho is your fear, worry, pride, bitterness, uncertainty about the outcome of your future, negativity, guilt about the past.
Your Jericho is whatever fearful mindset is holding you back from encountering the peace, joy, freedom and rest that the Lord provides you.
Don't get me wrong, it takes faith and is NOT always easy.
John 16:33 reminds us that:
"In this world you will face trouble, but take heart, I have OVERCOME the world."
YOU have to trust God is working in your corner for something better.
God didn't tell Joshua in the battle of Jerico:
"Joshua take the city."
God said:
"Receive the city I HAVE OVERCOME."
Joshua did not go into this battle worried if his outcome was going to be a victory, because He knew God was already victorious.
The same is true in our stories.
God doesn't say:
"Allie, stop worrying about an outcome."
God says:
"Allie, I have already overcome every fear that may take over your heart and mind. Receive the blessing of my victory over every outcome and peace over your life."
When we are in Christ, we have access to His power, too.
Every attribute of Jesus is at our hands when we receive Him.
Was Jesus victorious? YES & so will YOU.
Did Jesus overcome? YES & so will YOU.
Life is full of challenges and uncertainty.
Worries about the desires of our heart's outcomes.
But always remember:
With God, no matter the OUTCOME, I can OVERCOME.
Romans 8:28 says...
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Take God at His word. If He says it, BELIEVE IT.
Numbers 23:19 says...
"What He says He will do, He does. What He promises, He makes come true."
Love,
AW
